HIKING, FISHING This reserve protects 6 800 ha of montane fynbos (heath) which includes several rare plant species. From it there are outstanding views of the Witzenberg and Skurweberg mountains, and San (Bushman) paintings are an added attraction. Snow is quite common on the higher slopes in winter. Location: West-central area of province; outside Ceres. Access: From Ceres take the R46/R303 south-westwards towards Wellington. The reserve is located on both sides of the road at the top of Michell's Pass, with the entrance on the right. Accommodation: None. Ceres has hotels and camping and caravan sites with chalets. Other facilities: Walking and fishing are permitted; marked hiking trails are planned. Open: Throughout the year. Opening time: 24 hours.
